i made about 13 cups, two bowls and three small plates last nigh on m new Shimpo VL Whisper wheel. It's amazing....and almost silent. it's unsettling.
tonight i made the bottom half of my steamer/casserole.
i keep forgetting that porcelain/white stoneware needs to be pretty dry before you trim it. i almost wrecked a cup. whoops.
i also realized that i dislike making things with covers or lids...perhaps that is why i currently have a plethora of cups, mugs and bowls....generally things with a cylindrical form- i have those in abundance.
this semester is coming to a close in the not too distance future and you all know what that means. it's time for aimee to make a mad dash to the finish line to complete all her work. i don't know what it is about ceramics and workloads but i somehow manage to procrastinate in every aspect of this class, but i make it work. this semester is no exception to that rule.
although, with the new addition to my work force, i have a feeling things just got a whole lot easier.
tomorrow i venture to portland pottery in braintree for a few necessary supplies and possibly some new clays to try out for myself. i've always liked the speckled clay or dark stoneware the others in class have used...might need to get some for myself.
in non pottery related news i've started thinking about next semester's class schedule. i won't be taking ceramics. i plan on taking a semester off to work on all of my general education requirements so i can start chipping away at those. the schedule i've made for myself (as tentative...) is horrifying. six classes, five days a week. eek. i've also added a minor in history to my list of things to complete.
wake me when it's all over and i've graduated.
